In relation to the existing tiles, if we install your splashback on top of the tiling, wherever there is an exposed tile edge, there will be a double edge from the tile and the splashback. On some vertical edges it is possible to install a neat aluminium angle to conceal this, however this methodology is not suitable for horizontal edges or recessed vertical edges.
Glass100 does not currently provide a tile removal service.
- I ALREADY HAVE TOUGHENED GLASS, WHY DON’T YOU JUST CUT A HOLE IN IT FOR ME?
If you attempt to cut glass once it has been subject to the toughening process, the glass will shatter. (in industry talk, the Ultimate Limit State, ULS, is exceeded). Thus, the glass needs to be cut to the right size and have the hole cut into it prior to instigating the toughening process.
- WHEN WILL MY NEW PET DOOR BE READY?
Standard working time from measure to installation is 4 to 8 working days.
- I HAVE A VERY SMALL DOG, CAN I USE THE CAT DOOR?
Possibly. The cat door is also commonly used for miniature dogs and rabbits. If you are unsure regarding sizing, utilise a cardboard box as a test facility. Simply cut the flap size out of the cardboard box and place your dog in the box and see how easily your dog can pass through the cat door opening. The dimensions of the cat flap and the dog door are available here
- HOW DO I KNOW WHICH PET DOOR IS THE RIGHT SIZE?
The simplest way to test which door is the right size for your pet is to template the dimensions of the cat flap or the dog door (available here) onto a cardboard box, then cut a hole in the cardboard box the same size as the pet flap. Once the hole the same size as the pet flap has been created, gently place your pet into the cardboard box and see if it can fit through the opening to exit the box.
- WHAT WARRANTY DOES GLASS100 PROVIDE?
Glass100 pet doors that are installed into stationary panes of glass, receive a 12 month replacement warranty against faulty workmanship. Warranty excludes inappropriate use and malicious damage.
- ARE PET DOORS SECURE?
Glass100 regularly gets asked about the impacts on the security of a house by having a dog door. There are numerous considerations relating to property security and it is worth noting the following points.
The Australian Institute of Criminology produced the report “Trends & issues in crime and criminal justice no. 489”, which is viewable at http://www.aic.gov.au/publications/current%20series/tandi/481-500/tandi489.html
Notably, the report summarised that the single biggest factor in deterring would be burglars was the presence of a dog (61.4%), significantly higher than an alarm system (49.1%) or grilled windows and doors (19%).
Burglars are primarily concerned with not getting caught and as such will seek to have access to a quick exit in case of being disturbed. Pet doors do not provide a quick exit for burglars, they do, however place the burglar’s face in a very vulnerable position of being at dog’s teeth level. Moreover, the bigger the pet door, the bigger the dog and the bigger the dog’s teeth.
- HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
As the glass is replaced, the smaller the glass panel, the cheaper the cost is. Click here to go to the current Glass100 Pet Door Pricelist.
